The popstar Freddie Mercury once asked in one of his songs, ‘Does anybody know what we are living for?’
It’s the ultimate question for us all.
“Explore: The Meaning of Life” is a short course at Holy Rood church for anyone who has ever asked that question for themselves. In it, we tackle some of the big questions of life:
Is there a meaning to it all? Can we really believe in God? What about modern science? What was Jesus really like? What about suffering and evil? Is Christianity credible today?
Each session begins with a meal and a short talk, followed by discussion, questions, and comment. The course is run on the basis that everyone, whatever their background or beliefs, has a valuable perspective and contribution to bring. No question is out of bounds, and no issue off-limits.
“Explore” is suitable for all sorts of people: anyone seeking baptism or preparing for a wedding; those who want to be confirmed; existing church-goers looking for a refresher course; new members of the church; or anyone curious, intrigued or sceptical about religion.
For everyone, it serves as a good chance to make new friends and become part of the Church Community, thrash out the big issues, and have some fun along the way.
“Explore” is run on a regular basis at
